Despite the ongoing political uncertainty, foreign investors remain confident about Thailand's economic growth. Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon said that the ministry was preparing to brief foreign diplomatic corps explaining the current political situation and the forthcoming April 2 election.
Suphamongkhon further said that the foreign investors considered the current political turmoil, unless it turned violent, as a normal phase in the democratic process. According to the Centre for International Trade Studies at the Thai Chamber of Commerce University, Thailand's economic growth could end between 3.20% and 3.98% in 2006, as against the earlier 5% forecast; mainly due to the current political woes.
