Frank Quattrone -- who discovered a few months back that three times was a charm as yet another attempt to bring him to trial on obstruction of justice charges fizzled and effectively ended his legal saga --reportedly is going to try his luck getting back into business via a private equity venture. Fortune magazine reports that Quattrone may be looking to hook up with two buddies from his former firm, Credit Suisse - namely George Boutros and Bill Brady, who go way back to the early 1990s when the trio worked together at Morgan Stanley. According to Fortune, the new venture - which the magazine suggests may carry his name in part - would be a p.e.-cum-advisory firm along the lines of The Blackstone Group or Evercore Partners and would be competing on scale with the likes of Silver Lake Partners and Texas Pacific Group. Fortune says Quattrone would have no trouble raising a projected $5 billion, given his long track record, and even if he does, he can always use some of the $120 million in back pay he is expected to get from Credit Suisse once the charges against him are officially dropped.
