The real estate market in India is booming, and mutual funds are looking to put a chunk of the allowable maximum of 10% in unlisted securities into it, Sify reports. Among those following that strategy, is HDFC Asset Management Co., which says it will invest some of the money in its new HDFC Long Term Equity Fund into real estate projects, which, according to Sify, are created as special purpose vehicles. Investment in such projects has returned between 25% and 30% annually.
