Bovespa Trading Volume Falls 27% In June

Brazilian stock exchange Bolsa de Valores do Estado de São Paulo recorded a trading volume of 47.1 billion real (US$21.7 billion) in June, 27% less than in May. The most active names were Petrobras PN (5.92 billion real/US$2.7 billion); Vale R Doce PNA (4.18 billion real/US$1.9 billion); Bradesco PN (2.07 billion real/US$955 million); Usiminas PN (1.91 billion real/US$881.1 million) and Itaubanco PN (1.71 billion real/US$788.9 million).

Foreign investors accounted for 37.6% of the total transaction volume at the Bovespa in June against 40.66% in May, the bourse said on Wednesday. Institutional and individual investors came in second and third with 25.96% and 22.88%, respectively.

The exchange also announced a 2.26 billion real (US$1 billion) net foreign capital outflow in June, compared to a deficit of 1.515 billion real (US$698.9 million) in May.
