Dow Jones has launched an Australian dividend index, the 15th in its suite of Select Dividend indices. The Dow Jones Australia Select Dividend 30 Index will include the 30 highest dividend-yielding companies in Australia. “Traditionally, Australian companies are known for high dividend payouts,” Lars Hemich, managing director of STOXX Ltd., Dow Jones’ partner in the Select Dividend indices, told the Financial Standard.
The Financial Standard reports that the index is designed to underlie an exchange-traded fund. The iShares Dow Jones Select Dividend Index Fund, which tracks the U.S. index, has more than $6.1 billion in assets under management.
