The country's biggest insurer PZU intends to post 2006 results close to the 2005 profits, PZU's CEO Cezary Stypulkowski said on Tuesday. The consolidated net profit of PZU was PLN3.2 billion in 2005, which is a rise of 51.4% versus 2004. The PZU company dealing with property and casualty insurance had the largest share in the group's financial results; it posted a net profit of PLN1.7 billion, 28.5% up on last year. The group's gross written premium was PLN13.7 billion, which includes PZU's premium of PLN7.6 billion, and PZU Zycie's (the life insurer) of PLN 6.1 billion. Gross claims paid out by the group were PLN8.2 billion. According to data for Q1-Q3/2005, PZU had a 56.3% share in the property and general insurance market, and PZU Zycie a 41.5% share in the life insurance market.
