Investors are turning to big banks again, thanks in part to comments by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, who indicated a possible pause in interest rate hikes. According to MarketWatch, record profits at firms such as Goldman Sachs may be giving investors the feeling that valuations and prices at brokerages are too high, and that there may be a better deal out there. That better deal may be major banks, such as JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and Bank of America, which have begun seeing their share prices soar again, as they are seen as trading at lower valuations and paying out healthy dividends. Analysts, however, say that a shift to banks doesn’t spell doom for brokers, as a less active Federal Reserve is good news for all sectors of the financial industry.
