Private equity master Christopher Flowers appears on the march to take up major stakes in European banks to add to his Dutch NIB Capital investment, the Financial Times reports. In his latest campaign, Flowers reportedly is looking to acquire an 84% in Deutsche Hypothekenbank from ING. If he succeeds, says the FT, he would have to bid for the rest of the German bank. Meanwhile, Flowers is aiming for a 27% stake in HSH Nordbank, a regional German institution, together with Cerberus, Corsair and Hellman & Friedman. Success in the latest bids is expected to help Flowers with his intended float of NIB.
