Japan's Financial Services Agency has ordered the Tokyo branch of JPMorgan Securities Asia to stop trading in some parts of its operations because of alleged securities laws violations, Associated Press reports. The order came Thursday after the FSA suspected that a trader in the office had manipulated futures contracts.
In addition, the FSA temporarily suspended operations of JPMorgan's real estate finance business in the Tokyo branch for allegedly not providing appropriate explanations to a purchaser of a corporate bond. By the end of the suspension period, which ends March 31, the company is expected to submit a plan that would strengthen internal controls. The Asia unit says it will comply by the deadline.
