Trading in the newly subscribed series A ordinary shares of the American media company Central European Media Enterprises worth more than CZK4 billion (US$172.5 million) will begin on the Prague Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq, albiet, PSE spokesman Jiri Kovarik stated. PSE CEO Petr Koblic has decided to go ahead with the temporary suspension of trading with the CME shares effective from March 24 between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. due to the CME application for the issuance of new shares and in conformity with the valid legislation. The PSE step was also consulted with the Czech Securities Commission. Another reason for the PSE decision is preventing losses of investors on one of the markets. CME, which in the Czech Republic owns TV stations Nova and Galaxie Sport, wants to use the money gained from the share capital increase for a potential raise of its stakes in the two TV stations or further acquisitions and expansions in the region. Trading in CME shares on the PSE started in June 2005.
