The New York Times says, effective April 4, it will no longer publish daily stock listings in its Tuesday through Saturday edition. At the same time, the Times has announced new features to its Web site that will include investment tools, individual portfolio information and the latest financial news. The move, prompted by a need to cut printing costs, follows that of other daily newspapers, which have recognized that more investors are using the Internet for their financial-related information and research needs.
"I'm not surprised at all," analyst Douglas Arthur of Morgan Stanley, said in a Times interview. "I think it's a very logical move, given the fact that they're trying to encourage the migration online for these kinds of things."
