Those running the auction of Kirk Wright’s property seemed pleased with the results, but will irate investors be? It seems hardly possible, as the auction held Saturday came close – but no cigar – to meeting its $2 million goal. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the bulk of the cash came from bids on his real property – a huge house (sold to Miami Dolphins football prospect Jason Allen) in Marietta, Ga., where Wright’s International Management Associates was located, and a loft in downtown Atlanta, for a total of about $1.375 million. The auction of his three fancy cars drove up the figure to about $1.6 million. Odds and ends filled out the rest, especially three paintings which fetched a total of $13,500, and a pair of concrete lions from his front porch for $275. Hard as it tried, the auctioneer, Auction Management Corp., could not reach the target, in spite of offering things like mosquito zappers, household cleaners, and furniture that appeared to have been vandalized. A portrait of Wright of went for $100, the winner telling the paper, “It’s memorabilia… on how a person with his pedigree had risen so high and fell like a house of cards.”
