Patrick Carolan, a former managing director at Century Capital Management, left the firm last month and launched Endeavour Investment Partners, which plans to serve the defined contribution market. Carolan said the new consulting firm will help small-cap, international and private equity money managers create visibility among consultants and recordkeepers through strategic marketing and distribution. The Hingham, Mass.-based firm is currently headed by Carolan and Cale Graham, a former Fidelity Investment executive. The firm expects to add one to its staff in the next six months. Carolan, was responsible for distributing and marketing funds at his old firm and reported to Lanny Thorndike, managing partner. He said managing director Paul Berg and director Peter Whitlock at Century will share his previous responsibilities. Before joining Century in 1999, Carolan was v.p. of marketing management at Fidelity. Endeavour has retained investment management firm Century as its first client. Berg said Carolan helped create a five-star fund--Century's Small-Cap Select Fund--through his knowledge of distribution strategies, which is unique and useful for small- to mid-size shops and does not require a lot of manpower on the floor. He said the firm is trying to recruit a particular person to replace Carolan but declined to say who it is.
