All the world's a stage, but not all investors are merely bit players. According to The Wall Street Journal, investment types of all stripes, including venture capitalists and hedge funds, are trying to use their savvy to score in theater by pouring money into Broadway which just came off a record year at the box office. The WSJ reports that producers are witnessing a flow of money from these nontraditional sources, and with that influx of cash comes expectations beyond the norm – for example, they are pushing for organizing shows in a way that gives them a return on their money at a quicker pace. Without show smarts, says The WSJ, some of these investors are picking shows to invest in the same way they pick companies: gut feeling based on the project or the people involved in it.
