The central bank of Brazil sold $821 million in foreign-exchange swap contracts on March 28, 2011, The Wall Street Journal reports. The bank sold all of the 16,500 reverse-swap contracts on offer. The contracts will mature on June 1, 2011. The auctions enable investors to swap foreign-exchange positions for government paper linked to interest rates.
