Portugal has repurchased bonds worth €125 million, maturing in the second quarter of 2011, The Wall Street Journal reports. The country offered to buyback its 3.20% April 2011 and 5.15% June 2011 bonds.
After this year’s bond redemptions, totaling €9.275 billion after the buyback, Portugal has to pay back €8.518 billion in 2012 and €8.737 billion in 2013. The debt agency also re-purchased €190 million of the April 2011 bond at an average yield of 1.746% against a €529 million bid and €25 million of the June 2011 bond at an average yield of 2.136% of the €429 million bid.
