Keaton Energy (KEH) is seeking to purchase a majority stake in Leeuw Mining and Exploration (LME), Independent Online reports. The coal exploration, development and mining company intends to refinance and acquire a 74% interest in the South African export coal producer in a two-stage transaction. LME’s founding shareholder JPI Leeuw and Associates will remain a 26% shareholder in LME. The deal will also see Geneva-based energy trader Gunvor, through its affiliate Plusbay, become a shareholder in Keaton Energy.
