Mortgage lending by mutuals slipped in December, according to the U.K.’s Building Societies Association. The BSA reported that gross lending £1.8 billion ($2.89 billion) in December, down from £2.0 billion ($3.21 billion) the preceding month. In addition, mortgage approvals fell to £1.2 billion ($1.92 billion) from £1.9 billion ($3.05 billion), while net lending was basically flat.
