The National Treasury of South Africa is planning to sell foreign bonds in the next three years, Bloomberg reports. The government may raise about $1 billion each year in global markets to maintain benchmarks in major currencies and meet part of its foreign currency commitments. The government may sell $21.13 billion of long-term domestic debt in 2011-12 and $21.15 billion in 2012-13. Another $3 billion will be raised in treasury bills in each of the next two years.
