The Nature Conservancy has just landed its new investment chief from Arizona State University. Jeff Mindlin, chief investment officer for ASU Enterprise Partners, told Institutional Investor that he is headed to the environmental nonprofit to take over the CIO role later this month.
Mindlin will oversee The Nature Conservancy’s endowment and other long-term assets, run its investment strategy, and manage relationships with external managers and donors, according to a foundation representative. He replaces institutional investment veteran Bola Olusanya, who left the foundation to manage the MacArthur Foundation’s nearly $9 billion endowment (Jennifer Kilpela assumed the role of interim CIO since Olusanya left the conservancy in May).
Olusanya spent the past five years building the organization’s first internal investment team to manage its $4 billion investment portfolio.
For nearly a decade, Mindlin has served as the inaugural CIO for ASU Enterprise Partners. His last day with the school will be December 12. A university spokesperson confirmed that Samantha Bradley, managing director of RealmSpark, will serve as CIO for the state university’s $1.7 billion endowment on an interim basis.
Prior to joining Arizona State, Mindlin was executive director and co-CIO at Tower Square Investment Management, where has also co-chaired the investment committee, which oversaw more than $5 billion in assets.
