Tiger Funds Roared in February

Most of the hedge funds with ties to Tiger Management made money last month despite their tech- and internet-heavy portfolios.

Many of the descendants of Julian Robertson Jr.’s Tiger Management proved they can make money during sharp market selloffs even though many of them are loaded up with high-beta tech stocks.

Several of the long-short funds managed by so-called Tiger Cubs (former employees of Tiger Management), Grandcubs (former employees of Tiger Cubs), and Seeds (who received startup capital from Robertson) were in the black in February, while one long-short fund that did lose money was barely negative.
