Dan Loeb’s Third Point Offshore got off to a profitable start this year, posting a 1.2 percent gain in January, according to its latest monthly report.
By comparison, the Standard & Poor’s 500 stock index, including dividends reinvested, was flat for the month.
Third Point earned most of its gains in its equity long book, which kicked in 1 percentage point to gross performance.
