The strategy is outperforming the broader hedge fund index this year after trailing it since at least 2013.

Turning up the heat in the c-suite kitchen is finally getting one category of hedge funds cooking this year.

Activist hedge funds returned 11.67 percent year to date through October, according to Hedge Fund Research. That’s a fair stretch better than the broader HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index, which returned 7.23
