Canyon Posts Loss After Rough Fourth Quarter

The credit-heavy multistrategy fund warns of “more frequent bouts of market volatility” in its latest client letter.

Canyon Partners’ Value Realization Fund had a tough final quarter of 2018, losing 6 percent — swinging the fund to a 2.64 percent loss for the year.

But its decline could have been a lot worse had the portfolio managers not been prepared for a possible selloff or taken steps to reduce its exposure.
