Ackman Up, Loeb Down in Tough Year for Hedge Funds

The hedge fund losses are piling up for 2018 — and hedging didn’t seem to help.

The December market meltdown dealt a blow to hedge fund activist Bill Ackman’s comeback, but he still managed to post a gain of 2 percent in 2018 in one of his funds, Pershing Square International, according to an investor in the fund.
