Einhorn’s Greenlight Posts a Small Loss in July

The long-short manager enjoyed strong gains from several previously losing positions last month but is still deep in the red this year.

Another month, another loss for David Einhorn’s Greenlight Capital.

The struggling value-driven, long-short manager posted a small 0.30 percent decline in July, bringing its flagship fund’s loss for the year to 19 percent. Einhorn declined to comment.

“Over the past three years, our results have been far worse than we could have imagined and it’s been a bull market to boot,” Einhorn lamented in his second-quarter letter, dated July 31 and obtained by Institutional Investor.
