Christianna Woods’s move to hedge fund sponsor Capital Z.

When senior investment officer Christianna Wood left the California Public Employees’ Retirement System in February, the largest U.S. pension fund’s loss was the hedge fund industry’s gain. Wood, who oversaw investment strategy and policy for the $150 billion CalPERS portfolio of global equities, has spent much of the past four months vetting new talent at New York–based hedge fund sponsor Capital Z Asset Management, where she became CEO in March.
