sually, investment professionals don’t leave a high-flying firm. But James Parsons, a portfolio manager and management committee member of successful Viking Global Investors, is departing.

Nine-year Viking veteran Parsons decided to leave because of differences he had with founder Andreas Halvorsen regarding the direction of the long-short equity shop, even though the firm has boosted assets and performed strongly in recent months, according to a letter sent to investors by Halvorsen.
