Senator Investment Group, a long-short event-driven hedge fund firm founded by Alexander Klabin and Douglas Silverman, tends to keep a very low profile. But the ultra secretive New York–based firm couldn’t escape the watchful gaze of Blackstone Group, which bought a minority stake in Senator in February 2014. Blackstone has a history with Senator dating back to its foundation: The Blackstone Strategic Alliance Fund provided $150 million in seed money when Senator was founded in 2008.
