Credit Suisse Hedging-Griffo is a pioneer in the Latin American hedge fund market and has helped solidify the notion that hedge funds can be successful in Brazil, a country with historically turbulent and unpredictable financial markets. Still, Brazil's markets are steadily improving; while many countries floundered for years after the 2008 financial crisis, Brazil endured a brief two-quarter recession before recovering in mid-2009. That instigated a surge of capital into the country, which directly benefited CSHG: Between 2011 and 2012 the firm boosted capital by 95 percent.
