The Mike Kwatinetz fan club

Considering the way the entire sector continues to melt down, Mike Kwatinetz’s book on technology stock investing has been selling pretty well.

One month after its January debut, The Big Tech Score: A Top Wall Street Analyst Reveals 10 Secrets to Investing Success had almost sold out its first printing. Coauthored by the former Credit Suisse First Boston technology research chief and his 27-year-old daughter, Danielle Kwatinetz Wood, the book has climbed as high as 200 on Amazon’s sales list. Kwatinetz, who now runs the San Francisco venture capital firm Azure Capital Partners, admits to checking his Amazon standing “pretty frequently.” One place the book is a bona fide bestseller: CSFB. Late last month The Big Tech Score had plunged to the 3,780th spot on Amazon’s general list, but it was holding strong as the No. 2 best-selling book among online buyers at CSFB. “I think people there are reading it and recommending it to other people,” says Kwatinetz. Has his former boss, tech deal maker Frank Quattrone, plowed through the book? “I have no idea,” says Kwatinetz. “But he sent me a nice e-mail.”
