Schroders has hired Charles Prideaux as its head of solutions, a new role for the recently restructured business, Schroders confirmed Monday.

He will be responsible for Schroders Solutions, the arm serving institutional clients and retail intermediaries globally with “asset-class agnostic” product advice, risk management, and portfolio customization.

Prideaux previously spent nearly three decades with BlackRock and its former companies, beginning in 1988. He rose to lead the American asset management giant’s institutional client business in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

BlackRock overhauled its team structures in 2016, and combined its active and passive, or quantitative, units into a single department globally. Prideaux became head of active investments for EMEA.

Roughly one year later, he reportedly left the firm.

Prideaux begins his new position at Schroders on October 2, the London-based company said. He will report to Global Head of Product Richard Mountford.

“We have big ambitions for our Solutions business,” Mountford said in a statement. He lauded Prideaux’s breadth of asset-class experience, and said he believes “clients will benefit from his talent and knowledge.”
