Ford Foundation Names Eastern Africa Head

The New York–based provider of grants in all 50 states Ford Foundation has selected Maurice Odhiambo Makoloo as representative for Eastern Africa, serving Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, effective January.

The New York–based provider of grants in all 50 states Ford Foundation has selected Maurice Odhiambo Makoloo as representative for Eastern Africa, serving Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, effective January. Based in the foundation’s office in Nairobi, he will manage all of its work in the region.

Makoloo replaces Willy Mutunga, who is now chief justice of the Supreme Court of Kenya. Besides being a legal practitioner, he was secretary to Kenya’s Public Complaints Committee on the Environment and convener of the council of the Law Society‘s Environmental Law Committee. Makoloo is at present director of the Institute for Law and Environmental Governance, a non-profit environmental research and advocacy institution based in Nairobi.
