Alan Cameron AO has been named as chairman of the corporate governance council of primary market and trading services provider ASX Group (ASX). He will succeed current council chair and ASX’s executive general manager, regulatory and public policy, Malcolm Starr, who is stepping down.
Cameron is a corporate governance authority and is the chairman of the board of ASX subsidiary ASX Compliance. At present, he is chairman of infrastructure equity manager Hastings Funds Management, Westpac’s insurance companies and National Electronic Conveyancing Development. He has been chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission earlier in his career.
