Italy’s Intesa Sanpaolo Hires CEO

Italy’s biggest domestic bank Intesa Sanpaolo has appointed Enrico Tomaso Cucchiani as CEO effective December 22.

Italy’s biggest domestic bank Intesa Sanpaolo has appointed Enrico Tomaso Cucchiani as CEO effective December 22, The Wall Street Journal reports. He is replacing Corrado Passera, who will become Italy’s minister for industry, infrastructure and transportation.

Cucchiani joins from German insurer Allianz, where he is responsible for its insurance business in Europe and South America. In addition, he is a non-executive board member of UniCredit, which is active in Central and Eastern Europe. He is planning to resign from both companies.
