SECOND TEAM Michael Bilerman & team Citi
Citi’s ten-strong squad led by Michael Bilerman repeats in second place. “There isn’t another sell-side team that can herd so many stocks nor do it as well,” declares one partisan. In July 2010 the group upgraded Home Properties from hold to buy, as a bargain at $42.41, citing its exposure to the growing mid-Atlantic market and its high dividend yield. Through August 2011 shares of the Rochester, New York–based apartment complex owner catapulted 57.7 percent, to $66.87, breezing past the sector by 31.1 percentage points. “Michael has the ear of management and asks the tough questions that investors wish they had thought of,” marvels another admirer.
