Gates Foundation Gives $4.17M To UCI

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has gifted $4.17 million to the University of California Irvine Institute for Money, Technology & Financial Inclusion.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has gifted $4.17 million to the University of California Irvine (UCI) Institute for Money, Technology & Financial Inclusion. Washington-based Gates Foundation is the world’s biggest private foundation.

The four-year grant will help finance ongoing research into the use of mobile technology for supplying banking and financial services to developing and third world countries. With this, the foundation has given it more than $6.13 million since the institute was established in 2008.
