Intercontinental Exchange’s subsidiary ICE Futures Canada is looking to introduce new futures contracts for milling wheat, durum wheat and barley.

Intercontinental Exchange’s subsidiary ICE Futures Canada is looking to introduce new futures contracts for milling wheat, durum wheat and barley. This is subject to the passage of federal legislation on marketing freedom for farmers, moved on Tuesday, and regulatory approval from the Manitoba Securities Commission.

Priced in Canadian dollars, the new contracts are to be structured around ICE Futures Canada’s canola futures contract. The milling wheat and durum wheat contracts would be 100 tonnes in size and the barley contract 20 tonnes. The exchange anticipates listing the new contracts for delivery in October 2012.
