New York–based financial services firm Cowen Group has hired John Nelson as managing director and head of aerospace, defense and industrials investment banking. Jeff Porphy, who joined Cowen as financial sponsor’s coverage head in March 2010, has been appointed head of mergers and acquisitions.
Based in New York, the duo will work under Kevin Raidy and Chris McCabe, co-heads of investment banking at investment bank Cowen & Co. Nelson is returning to Cowen from advisory service provider Macquarie Capital, where he was managing director in its industrials investment banking unit.
