XL Hires Risk Unit’s Underwriting Head

XL Insurance has hired Richard Maxwell as chief underwriting officer of a new political risk and trade credit unit.

XL Insurance has hired Richard Maxwell as chief underwriting officer of a new political risk and trade credit unit. Based in New York, he will report to Neil Robertson, XL’s CEO of global specialty in London. Maxwell will handle a team of political risk and trade credit underwriters in both New York and London.

Before joining the global insurance underwriting operations of XL Group, he was with QBE as global head, structured trade and political risk. Previously, he has also worked with firms, including GMAC Commercial Finance, Euler American Credit Indemnity, American Express Bank and Foreign Credit Insurance Association.
