The Dubai Mercantile Exchange’s trading volumes set a new monthly record last month.

The Dubai Mercantile Exchange’s trading volumes set a new monthly record last month, Financial News reports. Trading of Oman Crude oil futures contract rose 7.8 percent on the previous record of 88.54 million barrels in July.

The record 95.4 million barrels in August was a 57 percent increase on the 60.75 million barrels traded in August 2010. The Oman crude oil futures contract is the only commodity currently traded on the Dubai exchange.
