SEC Appoints Foreign Bribery Unit Head

The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed Kara Novaco Brockmeyer as chief of its national specialized Foreign Corrupt Practices Act unit.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed Kara Novaco Brockmeyer as chief of its national specialized Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) unit. She has been an assistant director in the Enforcement Division and supervising several complex investigations involving violations of the FCPA. Brockmeyer, who joined the regulator in 2000, has been co-head of the division’s cross border working group, a proactive risk-based initiative focusing on U.S. companies with substantial foreign operations. The FCPA unit concentrates on violations of the anti-bribery provisions of the federal securities laws.
