MaRS Gets $1.3M From Two Foundations

The Rockefeller Foundation and the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation have given a total of $1.3 million to Toronto-based innovation centre MaRS Discovery District.

The Rockefeller Foundation and the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation have given a total of $1.3 million to Toronto-based innovation centre MaRS Discovery District. The funding will be made available for the Centre for Impact Investing, to be housed at MaRS. The center, which will construct upon the foundational work of MaRS and Social Innovation Generation, will increase awareness and effectiveness of social finance to catalyze new capital, talent and initiatives dedicated to tackling social and environmental problems in Canada. It is scheduled to open for operations later this year.
