MSCI EAFE Index Falls 9% In August

The MSCI EAFE Index dropped 9 percent in the month of August.

The MSCI EAFE Index dropped 9 percent in the month of August, PLANSPONSOR reports. The S&P 500 Index and the S&P GSCI Index also lost 5.4 percent and 1.8 percent, respectively. Gold, however, climbed 11.4 percent, the Barclays U.S. Treasury was up 2.8 percent and the Barclays U.S. Aggregate Index rose 1.5 percent.

ETFs saw inflows of $2 billion during the month. The fixed-income category witnessed investments of $4.8 billion in the month and $23.6 billion year-to-date. The international-emerging category saw the most drawings, $2.9 billion, according to State Street Global Advisors’ ETF Snapshot report.
