According to Morningstar, exchange traded products (ETPs) that follow copper prices and miner stocks dropped sharply September 19 due to European debt jitters and fears about the global economy slowing down, ETF Trends reports. The IPath Dow Jones-UBS Copper Subindex Total Return ETN was down 3 percent in early trading. The copper exchange-traded note (ETN) was down 13.7 percent year to date as of September 16. The First Trust ISE Global Copper Index Fund and Global X Copper Miners ETF, which track copper miners, also weakened. Copper prices dropped to a nine-month low.
