CFTC May Vote On Speculation Limits In Sept

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is likely to vote on September 22 to complete Dodd-Frank Act limits on speculative trading in commodities.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is likely to vote on September 22 to complete Dodd-Frank Act limits on speculative trading in commodities, Bloomberg reports. CFTC commissioners will vote on the position-limits rule and regulations governing derivatives clearinghouses next month.

The position-limits measure, which focuses on restricting the influence of big traders in commodities markets, was proposed in January. The Dodd-Frank Act seeks to lower risk and boost transparency in the $601 trillion over-the-counter swaps market. Trades conducted by companies such as JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs will be governed by the rules.
