Morningstar has unveiled 18 new alternative investment categories, Financial Times reports. The categories have been added to the investment research company’s fund category classification system for Ucits funds available for sale in Europe and Asia. The new categories, which cover more than 3,000 Ucits share classes, include Alt – Debt Arbitrage, Alt – Diversified Arbitrage, Alt – Event Driven and Alt – Currency. The new system represents a move away from Absolute Return. The company’s previous alternative investment categories include EUR Absolute Return and Non-EUR Absolute Return.
