ETFs that invest in Europe declined as several euro zone countries extended their ban on short-selling, ETF Trends reports. German stocks became unpredictable after rumors that the country’s triple-A credit rating will be downgraded. Spain and Italy have extended their respective bans to September 30, while Belgium and France have not fixed an end-date to their short-selling bans.

The iShares MSCI Spain Index Fund and the iShares MSCI Italy Index Fund are some of the ETFs tracking the countries. The bans may support the equities market, especially financial shares, after the credit crisis.
