Net assets of the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec increased 4.1% in the first half of 2011, Reuters reports. The Canadian pension fund had net assets worth $159.5 billion as of June 30, up from $153.8 billion on December 31. The weighted average return of depositor funds for the first half of 2011 was recorded as 3.6%. The fund’s investment income net of operating expenses was $5.37 billion for the first half of the year, with depositors, mostly Quebec public and private pension funds and insurance plans, committing $912 million of that.
