Big investors are taking different calls on their gold exposure, with George Soros paring his holding and others such as John Paulson maintaining it, Reuters reports. Soros lowered his investment in the SPDR Gold Trust by 13% to a little more than $6 million in the second quarter. Paulson stayed with his $4.6 billion investment in the fund, as per a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In the first quarter, Soros had exited bullion stake worth nearly $800 million. Eric Mindich’s Eton Park Capital cut his holding in SPDR Gold Trust sharply to 813,000 shares in the second quarter from 2.3 million in the first quarter. At the same time, it increased his stake in the fund’s call options from six million shares to 8.7 million.
